RP81-S-AR (Argentina) (Road Sign) White Coffee Mug

A road sign reduced to a single idea: Argentina, announced as plainly as a directional marker on an open highway.

Visual Elements & Composition

The design takes the form of a road sign, a shape built to be read at a glance, so the composition is direct and unfussy. The country's name sits at the centre, with no competing decoration drawing the eye elsewhere. The work is clean and graphic, relying on its outline and central subject rather than ornament, and its reference code, RP81-S-AR, identifies it within its range.

Meaning & Symbolism

Road signs are a language of place. They tell travellers where they are and where they are heading. Set against the name Argentina, the sign turns that everyday vocabulary into a statement of geography and culture, presenting the country as a destination you can point to. The themes attached to the design, Geography and Culture, make that link explicit, framing Argentina as both a place on the map and an identity people carry with them.

Turned in the Hand

A mug is a shape you hold and turn, so the sign rotates with each sip, its message coming round to face you as the cup moves. Read it over a morning coffee or a slow afternoon tea and the road-sign idea sits close to the eye, a small journey that starts and ends at your desk. For anyone with Argentina on their mind, whether a memory of a trip or a place still on the wish list, the sign keeps that destination within reach every time the cup is lifted.
