The Saint Augustine National Cemetery is a United States national cemetery located in Saint Augustine, Florida. Established in 1865 during the U.S. Civil War, it was one of the earliest national cemeteries and primarily serves as the resting place for military personnel who died while serving in the American Civil War. The cemetery covers approximately 30 acres and contains over 9,000 gravestones. Notable interments include those of Union soldiers who were prisoners of war at nearby Camp Sumter (also known as Andersonville Prison). The Saint Augustine National Cemetery is maintained by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.
