The Salyut Program, also known as the Soyuz Space Programme, was a series of Soviet space station missions launched from 1971 to 1991. The program aimed at establishing and maintaining a continuous human presence in space and conducting various scientific experiments. Initiated with the launch of Salyut 1 (1971), it included seven manned stations up to Salyut 7 (1982). These stations served as research laboratories, providing valuable data on topics such as astronomy, biology, and meteorology. The program also facilitated the development of the Soyuz spacecraft, which continued to be used for manned missions even after the end of the Salyut Program.
