School of Pharmacology (United Kingdom) Coat of Arms Shot Glass

Design Elements and Symbolism

This shot glass showcases the coat of arms of the School of Pharmacy of University College London (UCL), a historical institution in the United Kingdom.

The Shield

The central element of the design is the shield. A blue band, known as a chief, gracefully arches across the top. Beneath, a diagonal blue band, or bend, bisects the shield, forming a visual focal point. Upon this band, the Staff of Asclepius, a golden serpent-entwined staff symbolizing healing and medicine, takes center stage.

Flanking the diagonal band, on a pristine white background, are two golden mortar and pestle symbols, traditional instruments of pharmacy and drug preparation. The upper blue band (chief) proudly displays a Tudor rose, surrounded by golden rays, connecting the school to its heritage. On either side of the rose are open books, their pages and gilt edges reflecting the pursuit of knowledge.

The Crest

Above the shield, the design incorporates a crest. A helm, specifically a plain-helm of an esquire, supports a foxglove, a plant with medicinal properties, set behind it two poppy heads crossed in the shape of Saint Andrew's cross.

Mantling and Motto

Decorative foliage (mantle) surrounds the helm. Tassels appear on either side below the motto and on either side of the helm more generally.

The motto, "Salutifer Orbi", is incorporated into the design, conveying the school's dedication to "Bringing health to the world."

Compact, heavy-based shot glasses made from clear, restaurant-grade glass. One standard size (1.5 oz / ≈44.3 ml) — sturdy, stack-friendly, and built to handle frequent service without fuss.

These shot glasses feel solid in the hand thanks to a thick, weighty base that keeps them steady on busy bar tops. The walls are even and clear, giving a nice, unobstructed view of the pour; the rim is smoothed for comfortable sipping.

They’re engineered for regular use: consistent dimensions, dependable weight, and a simple silhouette that suits both casual venues and more formal tasting counters. Designed to perform rather than show off.

  • Material: 100% clear glass for pure clarity and clean presentation.
  • Capacity: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml) — standard shot measure.
  • Base: heavy solid glass base that reduces tipping and improves balance.
  • Construction: restaurant-grade durability for frequent handling and washing.
  • Print-ready: suitable for single-sided print applications that withstand typical use.

Perfect for quick pours, samplers, and neat shots. Their compact footprint makes them easy to place on trays and tasting lines, while the heavier base keeps things steady during service.

  1. Bar service: quick, consistent pours — less wobble when carrying a tray of shots.
  2. Tastings: uniform size is handy for sampling flights or spirit tastings.
  3. Events: robust enough for pop-ups, festivals, and busy bartending shifts.

Storage tip: store upright and avoid tight stacking to protect rims and preserve clarity.

Dishwasher-safe for everyday cleaning — place on the top rack and use a normal household cycle. Repeated exposure to very high commercial temperatures can shorten glass life, so choose gentler programs where practical.

When you want to extend clarity and finish: hand-wash with warm water, a mild detergent, and a soft cloth; dry right away to avoid water spots. Handle by the body (not the rim) to reduce accidental chipping.

One size only: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml). Use the dimensions below for shelving, packaging, or tray planning.
