Soyuz 37 (Soyuz Programme) Soyuz 37 was a manned space flight mission launched by the Soviet Union as part of the Soyuz program on July 24, 1978. This particular mission, designated Soyuz T-6, was tasked with docking with the Salyut 6 orbital station to carry out research and maintenance work. The crew consisted of three cosmonauts: Vladimir Dzhanibekov, Oleg Makarov, and Gennady Strekalov. Unfortunately, an automatic rendezvous and docking malfunction occurred during the approach to Salyut 6, resulting in a hard landing back on Earth just two days later, on July 26, 1978. Despite this abortive mission, the Soyuz program has since evolved into one of the world's most reliable and effective manned spaceflight programs, contributing significantly to international space exploration efforts.
