Soyuz TM-27 (Soyuz Programme) Soyuz TM-27 was a crewed spaceflight mission launched by the Russian Soyuz program on October 15, 1998. This specific flight marked the second visit to the International Space Station (ISS), following its successful launch earlier in the year. The spacecraft carried a three-person crew consisting of Sergei Avdeyev, Pedro Duque, and Norm Thagard. Their mission included carrying out various scientific experiments and maintenance tasks on the ISS. The Soyuz TM-27 spacecraft safely returned to Earth on March 20, 1999. The Soyuz Programme is a human spaceflight program initiated by the Soviet Union in the mid-60s. Since then, it has evolved into a significant international collaboration for crewed space travel, serving as the primary means of transporting astronauts to and from the ISS since 2001.
