SP-348 SP-021 SP-150 (Brazil) (Road Sign) White Coffee Mug
Three pentagonal route shields overlap across the design, each carrying its own SP designation.
Visual Elements & Composition
White makes up around three-fifths of the artwork, with black doing most of the remaining work and a faint light grey adding a touch of depth. The three pentagons layer over one another, and the shield numbered 348 is partly hidden behind its neighbours. Every shield is labelled SP, and the numerals 348, 21 and 150 sit in bold block type. The shield outlines are flat and sharp, so the arrangement reads as a deliberate cluster rather than a scatter.
Meaning & Symbolism
A pentagonal shield is the standard way a state route is marked, so the design stacks several of those markers into one image. The overlap suggests a network of connecting roads rather than a single route. Together the shields carry themes of transport, navigation and regional geography, and the piece ties them to Brazil through its name. Its clean, modern flat-vector treatment keeps the focus on the signage itself.
Wrapped in the Hand
A mug is turned slowly in the hand, so the overlapping shields pass across the viewer's sightline and reveal a different shield with each turn. The curved surface brings the pentagons into view one after another, which suits a design built on layering. The white ground keeps each black outline sharp as the cup rotates.
