SP-653 (Brazil) (Road Sign) Color Changing Mug 11oz

This design takes the form of a road-route marker: a white pentagon framed by a black inner border, carrying the letters SP above the numeral 653 in bold black.

Visual Elements & Composition

White dominates the composition, with black used for the sign's border and lettering and a touch of light grey giving the flat vector shapes their quiet edge. The pentagon sits centred and unfussy, so nothing competes with the two characters at its heart. SP reads across the top, and 653 anchors the lower half, both set in a plain, utilitarian typeface that puts the sign's information first.

Meaning & Symbolism

Route markers like this one are the everyday language of the road: a shape and a code that tell a driver where they are. Here the code is SP, the abbreviation for the state of São Paulo, which the design places within Brazil's national theme. The pairing of a regional code with a route number reflects how Brazil organises its highways, turning a functional piece of signage into a small emblem of national identity.

On the Color Changing Mug

A mug is turned in the hand and read at close range, so the sign's pentagon and numerals sit squarely in view as you lift it for each sip. The sign's stark black-and-white contrast suits a cup that spends its life between the table and your hands, and the design rewards a slow look while the coffee cools.
