A pentagonal route marker carrying the letters SP and the numerals 825 is drawn in bold black on white.
Visual Elements & Composition
White makes up three-quarters of the design, and black supplies the remaining quarter as the outline and the lettering. The pentagon is the single dominant form, edged with a heavy line, and the SP prefix sits above the bold numerals 825. The type is blunt and evenly weighted, so the marker is clear from any distance. Everything is placed with the calm symmetry of a roadside sign, leaving the white field open around it.
Meaning & Symbolism
SP is the prefix for São Paulo state highways, and 825 identifies one route in that network. São Paulo is the most populous state in Brazil, and its route markers are part of the daily fabric of travel there. The pentagonal shield is a universal navigation shape, and this design applies it to a specific Brazilian road as a small, precise tribute to the state's highways.
Turning Round the Cup
The mug is rotated in the hand as you drink, so the marker travels across your view and comes back round again. Black on white reads clearly from a short distance, and the curved wall of the mug carries the sign around its full circumference, like a route marker set on a post.
