A pentagonal highway shield with an inner border, reading SP over the route number 984 in black on white.
Visual Elements & Composition
White fills about six-sevenths of the design, and the black covers the pentagon's outer outline, a thinner inner border and the lettering. The double border gives the shield depth without any colour or texture. "SP" is set small at the top and "984" dominates the lower two-thirds in heavy numerals. The layout is upright and centred, and the flat vector finish leaves every edge sharp.
Meaning & Symbolism
The shield is the standard shape for a state highway marker, and the design uses it to identify one route. SP is the prefix for the state of São Paulo, and 984 is the number of this road within the network, so the badge works as a wayfinding sign rather than as an image of a place. Its meaning sits in the code itself, which is how drivers recognise a route at a glance.
In the Hand
A mug is turned slowly while it is held, so the shield passes across the eye from one side to the other. The inner border follows the curve of the cup and keeps the marker recognisable from any angle. The heavy numerals stay clear when the mug is raised, which suits a piece built around reading a sign quickly.
