Texas 47 1917 (Texas) (Road Sign) Shot Glass 1.5oz

A white square marker from the first Texas highway system, with TEXAS set across the top and the route number 47 centred below in black.

Visual Elements & Composition

Black type on a white ground does everything here. TEXAS runs across the upper edge in plain capitals, and the number 47 sits directly beneath it, large and centred. The square frame keeps the lettering contained, and there is no colour or ornament beyond the text. The result is a spare, functional sign whose two lines are read in order from top to bottom.

Meaning & Symbolism

The design reproduces the state's earliest route marker for State Highway 47. Texas established its first state highways in 1917, and SH 47 was among the original routes, planned to run northwest from the Houston area toward Huntsville. Its markers predated the later black-square Texas signs, so the simple white shield stands as a record of the state's first road-numbering effort. The route has since been shortened to a College Station to Bryan connector, which makes the 1917 sign a snapshot of an earlier alignment.

Held Close in Hand

A shot glass is small and lifted in one quick motion, so the square white field and the centred 47 come straight into view at the rim. Two plain lines of type suit a small curved surface, and the high contrast reads clearly from the bar top. Each pour raises a piece of the state's first highway system.

Compact, heavy-based shot glasses made from clear, restaurant-grade glass. One standard size (1.5 oz / ≈44.3 ml) — sturdy, stack-friendly, and built to handle frequent service without fuss.

These shot glasses feel solid in the hand thanks to a thick, weighty base that keeps them steady on busy bar tops. The walls are even and clear, giving a nice, unobstructed view of the pour; the rim is smoothed for comfortable sipping.

They’re engineered for regular use: consistent dimensions, dependable weight, and a simple silhouette that suits both casual venues and more formal tasting counters. Designed to perform rather than show off.

  • Material: 100% clear glass for pure clarity and clean presentation.
  • Capacity: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml) — standard shot measure.
  • Base: heavy solid glass base that reduces tipping and improves balance.
  • Construction: restaurant-grade durability for frequent handling and washing.
  • Print-ready: suitable for single-sided print applications that withstand typical use.

Perfect for quick pours, samplers, and neat shots. Their compact footprint makes them easy to place on trays and tasting lines, while the heavier base keeps things steady during service.

  1. Bar service: quick, consistent pours — less wobble when carrying a tray of shots.
  2. Tastings: uniform size is handy for sampling flights or spirit tastings.
  3. Events: robust enough for pop-ups, festivals, and busy bartending shifts.

Storage tip: store upright and avoid tight stacking to protect rims and preserve clarity.

Dishwasher-safe for everyday cleaning — place on the top rack and use a normal household cycle. Repeated exposure to very high commercial temperatures can shorten glass life, so choose gentler programs where practical.

When you want to extend clarity and finish: hand-wash with warm water, a mild detergent, and a soft cloth; dry right away to avoid water spots. Handle by the body (not the rim) to reduce accidental chipping.

One size only: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml). Use the dimensions below for shelving, packaging, or tray planning.
