Tinker AF Base (U.S. Air Force) Tinker Air Force Base (AFB), frequently referred to as Tinker AFB, is a United States Air Force (USAF) installation located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Established in 1940, it serves as the home of the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center (OC-ALC), one of four Air Force Depot Maintenance organizations worldwide. The OC-ALC is primarily responsible for the maintenance and modification of military aircraft such as the C-17 Globemaster III, KC-46 Pegasus, and E-3 Sentry Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft. Additionally, Tinker AFB houses several tenant units, including the 552nd Air Control Wing, which oversees the operation of the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) and United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) air defense operations center in the central United States. The base also accommodates a number of support functions for the USAF, such as medical, security, and logistics services.
