University of East Anglia Coat of Arms Pint Glass - Design Description

This pint glass showcases the esteemed Coat of Arms of the University of East Anglia (UEA), a symbol of history, heritage, and academic excellence.

The Shield

The central element, the shield, is a vibrant azure (blue) field, providing a striking backdrop for the other components. Dominating the field are three ancient golden crowns. These crowns are a direct reference to East Anglia's historical significance, symbolizing the sovereignty and martyrdom of St. Edmund, the early king of the East Angles. In the chief (the upper part of the shield) rests a silver (argent) castle with three domes. From each dome proudly flies the banner of St. George, further connecting the university to its geographic ties. The castle's gateway (port) is depicted in black (sable), with the portcullis, crafted in gold, raised, implying openness and welcome.

The Crest

Above the shield, the crest features an angel, arising from natural-colored clouds, signifying aspiration and enlightenment. The angel is vested in silver (argent) and mantled in blue (azure), echoing the colors of the shield. It is crowned in gold, and its golden wings are spread. In its right hand (dexter), the angel holds an erect sword, a symbol of justice, and in its left (sinister) hand, it holds an open book, symbolizing knowledge and learning. The book's edges are bound in gold.

The Supporters

Supporting the shield on either side are two golden (Or) lions, regally positioned and facing forward (guardant). Each lion wears a blue purse pendant, suspended by tasselled cords. These purses pay homage to Lord Mackintosh of Halifax, UEA's first Chancellor, and his association with the National Savings Movement. The lions grasp "ancient crowns" in their interior paws, echoing the crowns on the shield, tying the composition together visually.

The Design's Message

The complete Coat of Arms of the University of East Anglia is a carefully crafted design, rich in symbolism. It beautifully blends elements of regional history, such as the crowns and Norwich castle, with those of knowledge, justice, and aspiration, creating a lasting representation of the university's values and identity. The design as a whole is a striking embodiment of the university’s history, location, and its enduring pursuit of knowledge.

Clear 16 oz (≈0.47 L) pint glasses made from solid glass with a heavy base for steady placement. Narrower at the bottom for an easier grip and balanced feel — durable, dishwasher-safe, and ideal for both serving and mixing.

These pints are crafted from 100% clear glass that showcases the drink inside — color, clarity and carbonation are all visible. A heavier, solid base reduces tipping and gives the glass a satisfying weight in the hand while the gently tapered body makes holding and carrying more comfortable.

Built to last, the construction resists chipping under normal use and is suitable for busy service environments as well as retail display. One-sided print work reads bright against the clear surface; the overall aesthetic is clean and modern.

  • Material: 100% clear glass for pure clarity and gloss.
  • Capacity: 16 oz (standard U.S. pint / ≈0.47 L).
  • Base: heavy solid glass base reduces tipping and improves balance.
  • Shape: narrower bottom for a comfortable grip and easier carrying.
  • Durability: dishwasher-safe and built for regular use.

Use these glasses for draft pours, mixed drinks, iced beverages and more. Their clear walls show off color and bubbles, which makes them a great choice for menus, tasting flights, and bars where presentation matters.

  1. Serving: ideal for beers, sodas, iced teas and cocktails served cold.
  2. Mixing: also works as a simple mixing glass for shaken or stirred cocktails in casual settings.
  3. Display: clean silhouette fits behind bars, on shelves, or on retail racks.

Quick tip: because the base is heavier, these glasses feel stable on trays and counters — handy when serving multiple drinks at once.

These glasses are dishwasher-safe; place them on the top rack and use a regular household cycle. For best longevity, avoid stacking them tightly and steer clear of high-heat commercial wash cycles when possible.

Hand wash with warm water and mild dish soap when you want to preserve maximum clarity and avoid sudden temperature shocks. Handle by the body, not just the rim, to reduce the chance of accidental chipping.

One size: 16 oz (≈0.47 L). Below are product dimensions to help with shelving, storage, and packaging choices.
