US 299 California 1948 (California) (Road Sign) Shot Glass 1.5oz

This shot glass reproduces a black and white U.S. Route 299 shield from California, with the state name and the abbreviation CALIF. set around the route number.

Visual Elements & Composition

The design is monochrome, with white and black sharing the surface almost evenly. A rounded shield outline holds the numerals 299, while the letters U and S sit above them and CALIFORNIA runs across the top. The flat vector drawing is restrained and symmetrical, giving the sign the orderly look of a late-1940s road marker.

Meaning & Symbolism

U.S. Route 299 crossed the northern part of California, linking Arcata, Redding and Alturas, and served as a spur of U.S. Route 99. The 1948 date places the marker in the post-war years, when families were taking to the road in growing numbers and the federal highway system was at the height of its reach. The shield follows the standard form set by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, which told drivers they were following a numbered federal route. The route was later redesignated State Route 299 in 1964, so the design preserves a road that no longer carries its U.S. number.

Shaped for the Hand

A shot glass is small and held close, so the shield becomes a detail to study up close rather than a sign passing a window. Lifting the glass brings the black lettering and white field into view together, and the CALIF. abbreviation reads clearly at the distance of a raised toast.

Compact, heavy-based shot glasses made from clear, restaurant-grade glass. One standard size (1.5 oz / ≈44.3 ml) — sturdy, stack-friendly, and built to handle frequent service without fuss.

These shot glasses feel solid in the hand thanks to a thick, weighty base that keeps them steady on busy bar tops. The walls are even and clear, giving a nice, unobstructed view of the pour; the rim is smoothed for comfortable sipping.

They’re engineered for regular use: consistent dimensions, dependable weight, and a simple silhouette that suits both casual venues and more formal tasting counters. Designed to perform rather than show off.

  • Material: 100% clear glass for pure clarity and clean presentation.
  • Capacity: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml) — standard shot measure.
  • Base: heavy solid glass base that reduces tipping and improves balance.
  • Construction: restaurant-grade durability for frequent handling and washing.
  • Print-ready: suitable for single-sided print applications that withstand typical use.

Perfect for quick pours, samplers, and neat shots. Their compact footprint makes them easy to place on trays and tasting lines, while the heavier base keeps things steady during service.

  1. Bar service: quick, consistent pours — less wobble when carrying a tray of shots.
  2. Tastings: uniform size is handy for sampling flights or spirit tastings.
  3. Events: robust enough for pop-ups, festivals, and busy bartending shifts.

Storage tip: store upright and avoid tight stacking to protect rims and preserve clarity.

Dishwasher-safe for everyday cleaning — place on the top rack and use a normal household cycle. Repeated exposure to very high commercial temperatures can shorten glass life, so choose gentler programs where practical.

When you want to extend clarity and finish: hand-wash with warm water, a mild detergent, and a soft cloth; dry right away to avoid water spots. Handle by the body (not the rim) to reduce accidental chipping.

One size only: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml). Use the dimensions below for shelving, packaging, or tray planning.
