The USS De Wert FFG 45 is a United States Navy ship that falls under the Oliver Hazard Perry-class of frigates. Commissioned in 1982, this vessel was named after Rear Admiral John D. Wert Jr., who served during World War II and the Vietnam War. The primary role of the USS De Wert FFG 45 is to engage in anti-submarine warfare, escorting larger ships, and providing a missile defense screen for fleet battle groups. Equipped with Harpoon missiles, Standard Missile-1 (SM-1) and Standard Missile-2 (SM-2), it also carries two Mk 32 torpedo tubes, Phalanx close-in weapon systems, and various other weapons and equipment for naval combat operations. The ship underwent extensive modernization between 2014 and 2016 to improve its capabilities and prolong its service life.
