VFA 83 Strike Fighter Squadron 83 (U.S. Navy) VFA 83, also known as the "Rampagers," is a United States Navy strike fighter squadron operating out of Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia Beach, Virginia. The squadron was established in 1952 and has since flown various aircraft, including the F4H Phantom II, A-6 Intruder, and currently, the F/A-18E Super Hornet and F-35C Lightning II. VFA 83 is part of Carrier Air Wing Eight (CVW-8) and has deployed on numerous aircraft carriers, participating in various global missions and conflicts such as Vietnam, Desert Storm, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom.
