Virginia 136 1924 (Virginia) (Road Sign) Shot Glass 1.5oz

This design reproduces a vintage-style Virginia State Route 136 highway shield in black and white, with the route number set large at its centre.

Visual Elements & Composition

White covers most of the design, with black providing the strong outline and lettering. The route marker is a shield shape that carries the number 136, and the words VIRGINIA and DEPARTMENT OF HIGHWAYS run around it in plain, period-style type. A circular badge holds the Virginia state seal, with a standing armoured figure, and the motto SIC SEMPER TYRANNIS appears beneath it. The layout is flat, direct and easy to read at a glance.

Meaning & Symbolism

The shield follows the early road marking of 1920s Virginia, a period when the state was building its highway network and each route needed a clear identity. The design is based on sign M1-V1a in the Virginia Supplement to the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. The seal carries the state's own motto, which translates as "Thus always to tyrants." Together the route marker and seal connect the design to American motoring history and to the geography of Virginia.

Made for a Shot Glass

A shot glass is small and held close, so the shield is seen at near range, the way a roadside marker is read by a driver pulling up beside it. Raised for a toast, the number 136 faces the drinker directly. It is a fitting piece of road history for a glass that is usually passed across a bar or shared at a table.

Compact, heavy-based shot glasses made from clear, restaurant-grade glass. One standard size (1.5 oz / ≈44.3 ml) — sturdy, stack-friendly, and built to handle frequent service without fuss.

These shot glasses feel solid in the hand thanks to a thick, weighty base that keeps them steady on busy bar tops. The walls are even and clear, giving a nice, unobstructed view of the pour; the rim is smoothed for comfortable sipping.

They’re engineered for regular use: consistent dimensions, dependable weight, and a simple silhouette that suits both casual venues and more formal tasting counters. Designed to perform rather than show off.

  • Material: 100% clear glass for pure clarity and clean presentation.
  • Capacity: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml) — standard shot measure.
  • Base: heavy solid glass base that reduces tipping and improves balance.
  • Construction: restaurant-grade durability for frequent handling and washing.
  • Print-ready: suitable for single-sided print applications that withstand typical use.

Perfect for quick pours, samplers, and neat shots. Their compact footprint makes them easy to place on trays and tasting lines, while the heavier base keeps things steady during service.

  1. Bar service: quick, consistent pours — less wobble when carrying a tray of shots.
  2. Tastings: uniform size is handy for sampling flights or spirit tastings.
  3. Events: robust enough for pop-ups, festivals, and busy bartending shifts.

Storage tip: store upright and avoid tight stacking to protect rims and preserve clarity.

Dishwasher-safe for everyday cleaning — place on the top rack and use a normal household cycle. Repeated exposure to very high commercial temperatures can shorten glass life, so choose gentler programs where practical.

When you want to extend clarity and finish: hand-wash with warm water, a mild detergent, and a soft cloth; dry right away to avoid water spots. Handle by the body (not the rim) to reduce accidental chipping.

One size only: 1.5 oz (≈44.3 ml). Use the dimensions below for shelving, packaging, or tray planning.
