William H Natcher Pkwy Shield (Kentucky) (Road Sign) White Coffee Mug
This design recreates the shield of the William H. Natcher Parkway, the route marker that once identified the highway between Bowling Green and Owensboro.
Visual Elements & Composition
A rounded rectangle forms the sign, split into a horizontal panel in navy and forest green. The words WILLIAM H., NATCHER and PARKWAY sit in white across the upper panel, and a green domed civic building with columns anchors the lower one. White covers most of the frame, so the navy and green stand out crisply against it in the flat vector style.
Meaning & Symbolism
The parkway was a key part of the Kentucky State Highway System and was decommissioned on March 6, 2019. The section north of I-65 was re-designated as Interstate 165, and the section south of I-65 became Kentucky Route 9007. The shield therefore records a specific chapter in the state's road history, a route that linked western Kentucky's two cities and is now remembered through its sign.
On the Coffee Mug
A mug is turned in the hand, so the sign rotates into view as you lift it for a sip. The rounded panel sits well across the curve of the white ceramic, and the bold lettering stays clear from the handle side and across the table.
