16th Infantry Regiment (U.S. Army) Black Coffee Mug

The 16th Infantry Regiment is a United States Army infantry regiment with roots dating back to the American Civil War. Originally formed as the 4th U.S. Volunteer Infantry in 1863, it was redesignated as the 16th Infantry Regiment during the late 19th century. Over the years, the regiment has participated in numerous significant conflicts, including the Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and more recently, Operation Iraqi Freedom. The regiment's nickname is "The Big Red One," derived from its distinctive red one star insignia on a white shield background. The 16th Infantry Regiment is currently part of the United States Army's 1st Infantry Division.
